Two Hours, Two Fish |

Happy New Year! My first session of 2012 saw me head to a local Scottish loch for a short session...
|
“Two hours fishing isn’t long enough” you may say but, believe me with temperatures hovering around zero degrees turning your fingers and toes into blocks of ice, two hours fly fishing last week more than long enough!
This time of year, time spent on the bank must be conducive to catching fish. This in my eyes means short sessions where plenty of time prior to your session is spent planning and preparing so time on the bank can be spent dedicating your skills and knowledge to one thing...catching fish.
Visiting a local still water Scottish Loch where it is floating lines only, my plan was simple – a long leader fished with one single heavy fly to gain depth allowed to sink slowly... it worked!
In two hours I managed to land two beautiful Rainbow Trout and, although I’m sure I could have caught more, I was that cold that I finished slightly early. That’s the thing with fishing, like anything, sometimes you just need to know when enough is enough and pack up.
A great start to 2012.
Tight Lines!
