My name is Lucy Bowden and I am 17-years-old. I am a very keen angler and I have been going fishing for eleven years. I especially love fly fishing, though I do go worm fishing and have also been sea fishing. Being a female angler there are very few other female anglers in England alone. When I was a young girl, this did not bother me but as I have grown older the fact that quite often I was the only female angler on the lake did annoy me a little.

‘A SCHOOL GIRL is so hooked on angling, she’s devised her own website to reel in more females. Lucy Bowden set up fishingforeveryone.com because she was fed up being the only young female she new in the sport. It’s proved such a success, a new generation of female angers in their teens, 20s and 30s are following Lucy’s advice and taking to the riverbanks with their fishing gear.

Many may say fly fishing is ‘boring’ and question as to why I am so keen to do it, especially as I am a teenage girl who should usually be interested in things such as shopping and boys. Well I am also interested in those things, and really there is no real reason as to why I enjoy fishing, It is a relaxing pastime that anyone can do and best of all it is one of the few sports where men and women can compete at the same level.
